About the event
Bayou Bandits Tailgate-
Join Bayou Bandits Tailgating for an unforgettable gameday experience in Baton Rouge. Established by five LSU alumni who share a passion for all things Louisiana, the Bandits host about 150 guests per game. From college kids to grandparents, the tailgate is open to all ages. And football isn’t the only thing this group is passionate about — proceeds from each tailgate are donated to support the restoration of the beautiful Louisiana wetlands, so you can give back while you party on.
Located in the heart of campus at the historic Indian mounds under the stately oaks, you’ll be able to catch the LSU players heading into the stadium and get a front-row seat to the band, golden girls, and mascot parading down the main road. There’s plenty of shade to help you stay cool with elevated accommodations provided by Box K Events, featuring a purple & gold 20x20 peak tent, two 10x10 tents, as well as ample seating, high-top tables with linens, and fans. Get ready to be served traditional, slow-cooked Louisiana fare that’s planned and prepped all week prior to gameday. The menu includes jambalaya, pastalaya, gumbo, shrimp étouffée, sauce picante, boudin balls, stuffed breads, pulled pork tacos, fajitas, and more. Sponsored by the most popular craft brewery in the state, Abita Beer, you’ll get to enjoy a private beer tent that offers a variety of ice-cold local brews on tap with 3-9 kegs per game to wash it all down.
Guests are welcome to start enjoying the party six hours before game time — and there’s no shortage of entertainment. While a professional speaker system is pumping up the crowd with non-stop tunes, two flush mounted TVs will be pumping out the football action. The fun continues with two custom beer pong tables, two sets of washer boards, a 6-foot projection screen, and so much more. There’s nothing like a Bayou Bandits Tailgate. Come on out and see for yourself!
Damn Strong Tailgate-
This well known LSU tailgate is the most authentic Bayou experience you will find on campus on a football Saturday. They have been running this show for over 20 years now. Set back in the trees, with a big kettle pot being stirred by a paddle, music playing, TVs going, you get the sense these are the superfans of the LSU Tigers. In fact, there is no game too early for this group to be up and running by 7 AM if need be for an 11 AM game.
The food varies from week to week, but be rest assured the amount of time and effort put into preparation is evident when you first taste what they are serving. Boudin, gumbo, homemade sausages and much more cajun faire. Ice cold beers, full bar and no alcoholic beverages are also offered to guests. The average crowd is approximately 50 + with all ages represented. For a night game at Death Valley, you may actually get 12 hours of tailgating in, hence the name “Damn Strong”. These are some of the nicest people you could meet in Baton Rouge!
Kocka Tailgate-
Join KOCKA Tailgating for an unforgettable gameday experience in Baton Rouge. As one of LSU’s greatest tailgating groups, this bunch of devoted Tigers hosts about 80-100 guests per game. While it’s open to all ages, guests typically range from 21-50 years old. There’s plenty of shade with eight canopies and a copse of giant oak trees to cover most of the tailgate, as well as ample seating accommodations. Get ready to be served traditional Louisiana-style food from jambalaya and pastalaya to gumbo and chili. You’re welcome to BYOB, but your hosts will also provide ice chests for beer, a premade signature drink called KOCKAtion, and a whiskey bar setup for the bigger games.
Guests are welcome to start enjoying the party six hours before game time — and there’s no shortage of entertainment. While DJ BIG B is pumping up the crowd with live music, two TVs will be pumping out the football action. The fun continues with all the traditional tailgate games, including corn hole, beer pong, washers, jenga — and the famous 8 Man Funnel of Death (it’s not as scary as it sounds: picture a funnel with 8 tubes where tailgaters compete to suck down beer the fastest!).
Located on the Old Front Nine parking lot, this tailgate is hard to miss with its 40-foot flag pole bearing the American and LSU flags. Known for the amount of heart and soul they put into each and every tailgate, it’s no wonder they’ve won best tailgate in the area three years running. Join KOCKA Tailgating for a game this year and see for yourself how tailgating is done down in Baton Rouge! #GeauxUglyEarly
